Undoubtedly, Shibuya Scrambled Crossing is one of the top tourist spots in Tokyo Metropolitan Area. As the shooting spot of both local and international movies, it’s getting more popular as time passes by. Hundreds of people cross here every three minutes. Where do these people come from? Well, they come from the Shibuya station (the fourth-busiest commuter rail station in Japan), countless shopping centers, several restaurants and cafés, Hachiko statue (meeting place), and offices (both private and public sectors) surrounding it. Some of them are tourists who just want to join the crowd and take pictures. I’m sure you would love to join the crowd one day. No one was ever disappointed in crossing Shibuya Scrambled Crossing especially when you come on weekends and holidays.

The more the merrier, indeed! How amazing it is to see a massive crowd of people cross altogether from every corner of the streets to the other side of the crossing when the traffic lights turn from red to green. Another thing that makes it more interesting is that the crowd cross peacefully and orderly without bumping each other. It is completely scrambled especially on weekends and holidays but it’s never chaos. This is a good example to see how populous and organized Tokyo is.

What about grabbing a cup of coffee at Starbucks on the second floor of Tsutaya Building, where you can see a great view of the people flooding Shibuya scrambled crossing? Starbucks coffee shop is likely crowded most of the time because it’s a great spot to take pictures of the world-famous scrambled crossing so you may have to wait a little longer before you can sit right next to the window facing the crossing, but once you’ve successfully seated, you surely would enjoy a relaxing moment sipping a cup of your favorite coffee.
