Are you interested in History? Would you like to understand the interesting Japanese tradition and culture from a historical perspective? Would you like to see some antiques? Edo-Tokyo Museum features the Edo Era in Japan. It shows all the things and the lifestyle of Japanese people between 1603 and 1863, when Japanese society was under the rule of the Tokugawa shogunate and the country’s 300 regional daimyo.

Aside from learning the history of the land of the rising sun, you will be amazed by the facilities and services they have. Excellent facilities like the Library, Museum Shops, Restaurants and Ticket Counter are available at Edo-Tokyo Museum. They have volunteer guides who speak in various languages like Japanese, English, Chinese, Korean, French, German and Spanish. The museum also has audio guide of the permanent exhibition, wheelchair service, baby strollers, diaper changing tables, nursing room, coin lockers, and others to help you just in case you may need them.

This informative museum is worth visiting! This enormous museum is filled with wonderful models and full scale replicas of houses, bridges, and shops in the Edo period, bringing history to life. There is an exhibit where you can walk and explore inside a traditional Japanese house. It even has the life size version of Nihonbashi bridge.

The museum has varieties of events such as Edohaku Culture, Museum Talk, Hands-on classes, Traditional culture experience Program for Foreigners, Let’s Meet Gino-chan (the official mascot of Edo-Tokyo Museum), and a lot more depending on the day of the week. You may need to register in advance before joining some of the events but they still accept registration on the day of your visit. It is recommended to visit the museum on weekdays because it could get crowded in the weekends and holidays.
