Senso-ji is one of the most valuable historical temple in Japan. It is also known as Asakusa Kannon Temple. Senso-ji was completed in 645 and obviously the oldest temple in Tokyo. The said famous historical temple is just a few steps away from Asakusa station.

Some of the buildings in Asakusa were built around 1950s and 1960s. Visiting Asakusa area is one-of-a-kind experience everyone could have in Japan for the reason that you can witness, experience and understand the old life in Japan. Traditional guesthouses, homes and small-scale apartments can be seen throughout the entire district. It is Tokyo’s oldest geisha district and there are still remaining 45 actively working geisha.

Ocassionally, Shinto festivals are held in Asakusa. A five-story pagoda stands around the main hall of the temple. The radiant atmosphere, downtown credentials, and relaxed atmosphere by Tokyo standards, Asakusa is a popular temporary accommodation choice for budget travelers. It is a downtown district that is comparable to Ginza, Shinjuku, Ikebukuro and Shibuya when it comes to tourism.

A well-known souvenir shopping area that lies before the Senso-ji temple provide Japanese goods which are sold in reasonable prices. Food stalls prepare and sell the food in front of the passers-by. As you go through the shops, you can catch a glimpse of the tallest tower in the world, the Tokyo Skytree.
