You are often going to library? The purpose of going are many, you simply want to read book, take rest, relax, study, listening to some CDs etc… Today, I want to introduce library which is quite “special”. The title of the library is definitely for kids, but even for adults, really can be enjoyed whole day.
The International Library of Children’s Literature is the sole national library dedicated to children’s books, and it holds about 400,000 volumes of Japanese and foreign children’s books.
The place consists of two buildings, the Brick Building which has a Gallery, a museum, and open stack reading rooms for children, where both adults and children can enjoy a variety of children’s books, and the Arch Building which has installed the Researchers’ Reading Room and Seminar Rooms to provide specialized information about children’s literature.
The Gallery of Children’s Literature is a permanent exhibition room for Japanese children’s books published since the Meiji era. It is a reorganization of the exhibition “Japanese Children’s Literature: A History from the International Library of Children’s Literature Collections” which was held from February 2011 to October 2015. Around 1,000 items are exhibited in this room. All books are available for anyone to read.
The construction is very modern and having an extensive ground. There is also really nice café in side, so of course you can only use for this café and relax during looking beautiful outside nature from the window. Interesting? Please check it out!
