As you have known already, Shibuya is one of the most famous places of the fashion culture in Japan. If you are as a tourist to come, you have to pick the places to go for a day or even shorter time. But today, I try to introduce a new fashion building in Shibuya where you can buy whatever you want for fashion stuffs!
“Hikarie” is a 34 storey tower in Shibuya that was the 40th tallest building in Tokyo when it opened in 2012. The building houses a large department store, known as ShinQs, that occupies the first 8 floors of the building.
The department store primarily caters to career women in their 20s and 30s and is mostly women’s fashions and cosmetics with two floors of food in the basement. Above the department store are floors dedicated to restaurants, conference rooms, small museums, a large hall and government offices.
11-16 floors are occupied by an elaborate performance theatre called Tokyo Theatre Orb that runs mostly popular western style musicals. Hikarie is architecturally unique in that the shopping, event space and office sections of the building are visible from the outside with its theatre floors bulging out in the middle.
Here is definitely the new center of Japanese fashion. Of course you can check all of fashionable stuffs and make up cosmetics but also can be found out some unique souvenirs of Shibuya. If you get tired with shopping, of course there are restaurants and cafes. (As I mentioned already, you can also take break in the theater too!) Hikarie is connected with Shibuya subway station, so you don’t even need to care about weather! Interesting? Please check it out!
