Do you love Japanese manga? If you feel like you just walked into the pages of a comic book, you should drop the shop “Tokyo’s Tokyo” located in Harajuku. Here is not only a manga geeks shop, quite fashionable new style manga shop!
If you step into Tokyo’s Tokyo is like stepping into page after page of manga. The store was designed by Tokyo-based Ryo Matsui Architects. Design and construction took a total of 7 months, and it was time well spent. Tokyo’s Tokyo looks airy and fun, its muted tones bringing attention to its brightly colored merchandise. This is no dark, dank comic book store. Design-savvy gift shop looks to the world of anime and manga for inspiration, stocking hip toys, clothes and accessories with a cartoony twist. In a bold bit of interior design work, the shop itself has been designed to resemble a manga layout, with curved shelves and irregularly shaped display units that would bring a smile to Osamu Tezuka’s face.
Tokyo’s Tokyo is betting that you’d love to find something slightly wacky, pop-culture-inflected and ‘only in Tokyo’ to bring home with you. It’s stocked with accessories from local fashion designers, surprisingly useful gadgets and other fun trinkets. You will definitely get great souvenirs! By the way, there is the shop also in Haneda airport, so if you forget to buy something, you can check before your flight! Interesting? Please check it out!
