Toshimaen is a theme park in western Tokyo with more than 30 different attractions ranging from extremely thrilling roller coasters to kids rides. Toshimaen station is only 15min away from Ikebukuro and the park is just in front of the station.
A water park opens in the summer, featuring six different swimming zones including a surf pool, a lazy river, a wave pool, something called the Nautical Jet, and a very elaborate collection of 25 waterslides, the highest being 22 meters above the ground and the longest 195 meters long. There’s also an Olympic sized pool with a set of three professional diving boards for more determined swimmers, as well as a selection of more peaceful pools for the kids.
By the way, Toshimaen is strict about tattoos: those with visible ink are not allowed in the park, and tattooed patrons spotted inside the park will be asked to leave. No exceptions are given, and even temporary tattoos are banned. Due to its convenient location and range of attractions, Toshimaen is a popular destination in Tokyo especially during the steamy summers. There is also the hot spring “Niwanoyu” just next of the Toshimaen amusement park, so if you want heal yourself after playing whole day, Niwanoyu is actually very suitable.
