Kappa bashi is located between Asakusa and Ueno. It is said Kappabashi its history with a few tool’s shops about 100 years ago. Since then, Kappa bashi has been known as the biggest wholesale town for kitchen and cooking in Japan, gathering over 170 shops selling kitchen equipment, tools and installing facilities.
Almost all shops are for commercial and professional use, but normal customers are also welcomed for shopping. Most of goods are relatively cheaper than retail shops, and have high quality since they are sold for professionals.
One of the most popular shops is Niimi Yoshokki, is located at the corner of Asakusas Street and Kappabashi Street. You won’t miss the shop because of the sign of a huge chef. You will be surprised at the wide range of goods. They sell any kind of table wares and tools.
For foreign tourists, the rubber made food sample shops are very popular. You will be shocked how real they are. They are made so precisely that you can be cheated they are real food. There are a few food sample shops, and they sell sushi refrigerator magnets.
Please be careful, most of the shops in Kappabashi close on Sundays.
